Catalyst Cap Intro Event

FAQs for Fund Managers

  • What is the fee to attend for a manager?
  • Check our event pages for fees for specific events. The fee for a manager is typically around $3.5-4.5K, but varies depending on applicable discounts, number of delegates sent, and add-on services added. Please apply to an event or contact us for fee details.

  • How many investors will I meet with?
  • We aim to get up to 10+ meeting introductions for each manager. The average is about 8.5 meetings per manager at past events.

  • What investors are attending a specific event? When is the draft investor list released?
  • We build up the draft list of investors for a specific event and publish this about 10 days before an event to managers that have registered. For past investors attending and typical characteristics, please see our brochure.

  • What if there is little interest in my fund, especially if our fund is small, has a short track, or has a niche strategy?
  • We offer a Secured Investor Interest Guarantee, by which you have the option to cancel and get refunded, less an admin fee, prior an event if you receive less than the minimum number of investor requests. We notify managers four days before an event about the investors meetings confirmed. See our Event Terms at registration registration for further details.

  • What do the investors base their meeting requests on?
  • We share all information that the managers upload when they register, including strategy description, AUM, and performance data. Investors can also review fund summaries.

  • How does Catalyst know the investors? Where are they sourced from?
  • The team at Catalyst come from alternative investing backgrounds and have built up wide networks of investors and allocators by hosting over 100 events. The firm works hard to find new investors by targeted invitations, referrals from industry colleagues and media partnerships, as well as retaining current investors in the network that have proven their allocation ability.

  • How do I know that investors are 'real' investors/allocators?
  • All new investors that want to join an event undergo a pre-screening process by Catalyst. This entails an investor filling out an investor profile questionnaire by joining the ‘COIN’ investor network. Sometimes the Catalyst team also talks to the investor to confirm their eligibility. If an investor has a specific limitation, we do our best to accommodate this. Note that Catalyst has discretion in deciding what constitutes an 'investor'.

  • What if I know a lot of investors? I only want to meet with new contacts.
  • Typically, when investors request their manager meetings, they don't select managers that they know since previously or that they don't have any interest in investing with. In addition, once the draft lift of investors is published, a manager may request Catalyst to remove any names they already know.

  • Are investors 'qualified' per SEC regulations?
  • All investors sign up as accredited, qualified or institutional investors. This status is given voluntarily. However, Catalyst doesn't verify or confirm this information.

  • Does Catalyst verify any of the investor or manager profile information?
  • No, we don't. All delegate information is based on voluntarily shared data given by the participants. Catalyst Financial Partners LLC is an events organizer, and has no fiduciary, investment or advisory responsibilities.

  • The event and meetings, how are they set up?
  • All delegates get a dedicated online event portal, with times, rooms/tables and meeting participants listed. The meetings are about 30 minutes long. Managers are free to share any materials in the meetings.

  • What does the main session presentation entail?
  • This is a 5 minute stand-alone talk be each manager. This is to give an introduction to your fund, what your strategy is about and how you add value to investors.

  • Is any media attending?
  • There is no media attending the presentation or meeting sessions.

  • Are there any service providers attending?
  • No, there are only investment managers and investors/allocators at the main sessions of the event.

  • The Second Event discount, how does that work?
  • If you purchase two events simultaneously, then you get a discount on the second event, with the first event charged at standard rates. No other discounts can be applied. Please see full terms at check out.

  • We like what Catalyst does and want to do more?
  • We appreciate every client and work hard to make everyone satisfied. We welcome you to apply to our events, and if you are interested in individual fund raising assignments please contact Catalyst Fund Advisors, our fund marketing sister company.

FAQs for Investors/Allocators

  • What is the fee to attend for an investor/allocator?
  • The event is complimentary, provided that you qualify to the event as an investor.

  • How do I qualify to an event?
  • Investors/allocators must qualify prior an event by joining the ‘COIN’ investor netwrk. The team at Catalyst may have additional questions and may contact you to discuss. In short, qualification denotes that you should be an institutional grade investor interested in allocating meaningful amounts of capital to private investment managers. Catalyst has discretion in deciding what constitutes an 'investor', and may reject admission to our events.

  • What types of managers do you usually host?
  • Our managers are best of breed, alpha-oriented, small to mid-sized fund managers across the alternative investment strategies.

  • When do I know which managers attend a specific event?
  • About 10 days before an event we send out the details on the managers to the investors that have signed up. You can then review and select the ones you find interesting.

  • How many managers are there at an event and how many can I meet with?
  • We usually host around 8-12 managers per event. An investor can meet with up to six.

  • Is there any minimum of meetings I need to commit to?
  • No, you can meet with as few managers you want. However, if you don't want to meet with anyone the event is probably a bad fit for you.

  • I am a low profile family office or a pension fund. How do I make so my information is not shared widely at the event?
  • We are happy to have investors attend without sharing their company info or profiles. Please let us know if this would be preferred.

  • How do I sign up to the next Catalyst Cap Intro event?
  • Please register on our website.
