Peter Carey
Senior Investment Officer, Alternatives
NY State Common Retirement Fund

 

Peter Carey is the Portfolio Manager for the Absolute Return Strategies (ARS) Program, Hedge Fund business, for the New York State Common Retirement Fund. He is responsible for the risk, return and overall management of the ARS Portfolio. He is also responsible for the welfare, morale and overall conduct of the ARS staff. Prior to joining the NYSCRF, Mr. Carey worked at Bear Stearns as an Institutional Fixed Income Salesman. He received his BS from the US Military Academy and a MBA in Finance from the University of Southern California. He is also a former Infantry Officer in the US Army.

 

 

Dustin Wolff

Dustin serves as portfolio manager for Table Mountain Capital, LLC and is directly responsible for the firm’s internal fund of hedge funds portfolio, including due diligence, hedge fund sourcing, and liquidity management.  Dustin has worked in alternative investments for over 8 years, focusing primarily on hedge funds and tactical asset allocation strategies.  Prior to joining Table Mountain, Dustin served in various positions at a boutique investment management firm in Colorado.  Dustin is a Chartered Financial Analyst Level II Candidate and holds his Series 3, 7.

 

 

Matthias Sainz

Mr Sainz joined Montcalm Partners, a multi-Family Office, in 2007. He is currently in charge of Hedge Funds Investments and Chief Risk Officer. He is responsible for sourcing managers and recommending portfolio allocations to Families. He also implemented the Quantitative, Risk and Monitoring platform for the portfolios, representing more than $500 millions in assets. He was previously the principle Quantitative Analyst and Risk Manager at Société Générale Asset Management's Fund of Funds. Mr Sainz holds an MSc in Finance and Economics with Distinction from the London School of Economics, an Engineer degree from the National School of Statistics and Information Analysis (ENSAI), and a BA in Economics from Université de Rennes, France.

 

 

Michael P. Hennessy

Michael P. Hennessy is Managing Director at Morgan Creek Capital Management.
Morgan Creek serves as an outsourced investment office for select families and institutions, providing a full range of investment management services based on an investment philosophy developed through extensive experience managing large University portfolios. Total assets are roughly $9.5 billion.

Prior to joining Morgan Creek in 2004, Mike was Vice President and Co-Founder of
UNC Management Company. UNC Management Company invested a total of $1.5 billion for UNC-Chapel Hill as well as several other UNC-related endowments and foundations. Prior to joining UNC in 1999, Mr. Hennessy was an Investment Director at Duke Management Company (Duke University) where he managed $3 billion consisting of the Long Term (Endowment) Pool, the Employees' Retirement Pool, and various other investment pools of University-related funds.

Mr. Hennessy received his M.B.A. with a concentration in Finance from the Fuqua
School of Business at Duke University, and holds a B.S. in Philosophy, Psychology and Mathematics from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Va. Mr. Hennessy is Treasurer of Duke University Federal Credit Union, a member of the Carolina Friends School Board of Trustees, Chair of the Carolina Friends School Investment Committee, and a member of the College of William & Mary Foundation Board of Trustees and its Investment Committee.

 

 

Brendan Connor

Before joining Hillview Capital Advisors, Brendan Connor worked in the online division at Dow Jones & Co. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Hamilton College in East Asian Studies and was the recipient of a grant from the Freeman Foundation for independent research. He holds a certificate from the Associated Colleges in China at the Capital University of Beijing, and speaks Mandarin Chinese. Brendan is a candidate in the Chartered Financial Analyst program.

 

 

Charles Krusen

Charles Krusen is the founder and CEO of Krusen Capital Management, LLC, which is the advisor to the LionHedge Platform, a single manager hedge fund platform providing high net worth individuals and select institutions with access to the top tier of hedge fund managers.  In addition, Mr. Krusen is the Chief Investment Officer of Krusen Family Office, a single family office based in Tampa, FL, with an investment office in New York, NY.  The family’s investment strategy is a core/satellite approach using a combination of ETFs, long-only and alternative managers.  Its primary goal is absolute return on a tax efficient basis.  Before founding Krusen Capital Management, Mr. Krusen was a Partner with Alpha Equity Management, an asset management organization that focuses on long/short strategies and is a pioneer in 130/30 investing.  He has more than 35 years experience in financial services, having begun his career with Citibank Capital Markets, specializing in arbitrage and proprietary trading of financial derivatives.  Mr. Krusen subsequently worked with the Derivatives Product Group of Fimat (subsidiary of Societe Generale), where he developed derivative strategies for equity private placements and created the Hedge Fund Strategies Group.  He is on the Board of Trustees of the Southampton Hospital Foundation.  Mr. Krusen is an honors graduate of Harvard College.

 


Marcel Herbst

Marcel Herbst is an Executive Director of the Harcourt Group. He joined Harcourt in March, 2002 at the headquarters in Zurich (Switzerland) and relocated to New York in 2007 as Managing Director / CCO of Harcourt Alternative Investments (US) LLC, an SEC registered subsidiary of the Harcourt Group.
His past experience includes Corporate Finance and M&A for Enron Broadband Investments in London (an independent USD200m private equity subsidiary of Enron). Prior to that, he was Director of Strategic Development for ComTelco, a US/German High Tech firm that successfully went public in 2000. He started his career 1997 in the Business Development department of Atlas, a financial services firm in New York. Marcel Herbst graduated from the University of St. Gallen (Switzerland) with a masters degree in Economics, and is currently finalizing his PhD in Economics with the same University.

 

 

Zoe Tananbaum
